AFAA Certified Personal Trainer
AFAA Group Fitness Instructor
6th Degree Black Belt Tae Kwon Do Master
Just a handful of women in the United States have earned the rank of Sixth Degree Black Belt. Included in that exclusive group is Master Susan Chung, co-owner of Bruce Chung’s Total Fitness. After graduating from Fordham University in 1983, Susan began her Tae Kwon Do training in New York City and achieved the rank of 1st Degree Black Belt in 1986.
In 1993 she made the decision to dedicate her life to teaching the art of Tae Kwon Do -- and along with her husband, Grandmaster Bruce Chung, opened Bruce Chung’s Tae Kwon Do Studio. In addition to teaching children and adults Tae Kwon Do, the Chungs dedicate a great deal of time hosting an annual fundraiser for different children’s charities.
In 1995 they developed the Bruce Chung’s Adult Fitness Program and began teaching aerobic kickboxing classes. The Adult Fitness Program has grown tremendously since then and includes many different types of classes including: Aerobic Kickboxing, Boxing, Core Strengthening, Weight Training, Body Conditioning and Cardio Interval. Susan has continued her Tae Kwon Do training and has also achieved her goals of becoming an ISCA Certified Aerobic Kickboxing Instructor, an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor and a Video Fitness Instructor.
In 1999, Susan decided to expand on her fitness expertise and developed the unique “Gym-Mini Kick-It® Toddler Gym Program” for toddlers age 14 to 36 months. The program is designed to help toddlers develop gross skills early on. With the success of the Adult Fitness and Gym-Mini Kick-it ® programs, the Chungs decided to change the studio’s name to “Bruce Chung’s Total Fitness.”
Susan is mother to two children, Josh and Katherine. Both of her children are athletes as well as Tae Kwon Do Black Belts.
